About Us

When Hurricane Helene tore through Henderson County, Lodge 1616 members didn't wait for instructions. They fired up the kitchen, packed meals, and fanned out across Hendersonville street by street. That's not a fundraising story. That's a Tuesday for this lodge.

Sit at the bar on a Friday evening and you'll meet a retired schoolteacher, a contractor, a veteran, and a newcomer who pulled in with an RV and a sick dog and found people who pointed him to a safe spot to park, no questions asked. The 4.6-star rating from 191 members and guests reflects exactly that kind of instinct, the kind you can't manufacture.

Elks Lodge 1616 has called 546 N Justice Street home through floods, recessions, and everything Western North Carolina has thrown at it. The pool deck still fills up on summer afternoons, the volleyball net still goes up, and the diving board still draws a line of kids. Some of those kids' grandparents were members first.

What We Offer

The outdoor pool is the social hub from Memorial Day through Labor Day, complete with a diving board, volleyball court, and the kind of afternoon that stretches longer than you planned. A basketball court sits just beyond, and pickup games are a regular fixture.

Inside, the lodge hosts dinners, dances, and private events in a space that can accommodate everything from birthday parties to retirement celebrations. The full bar keeps the conversation going after lodge meetings, and the kitchen crew has been known to put out a spread that draws members in from three counties over.

Community service runs year-round through meal delivery programs, scholarship fundraising, and local disaster relief efforts. Members get access to all of it, plus reciprocal privileges at Elks lodges across the country, which means that RV trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway always has a friendly stop along the way.

"I had the opportunity to help my neighbor Cindy deliver meals prepared by the Elks to Hendersonville neighbors facing hurricane hardships. To see all these Elk lodge family members working side by side to prepare thousands of meals for those in need was truly amazing and inspiring. I was privileged and honored to help out by delivering some of these meals and please know that all of your efforts were greatly appreciated 🥰🥰🥰"

"What a wonderful Lodge! The people here are so welcoming and directed me to a place to boondock on the tennis court in my RV while I was here with a little dog who needed emergency treatment at the vet. The folks here at the Lodge told me that I could stay down here as long as I needed to until my little girl dog was taken care of. This is just such a neat Lodge, they have a large pool up on top of that grassy knoll, open during the summer to members and guests, and I am down here on an old tennis court that they use for parking now. This is such a well-maintained lodge, a beautiful building as well! And the good people within... that's what makes this Lodge so wonderful. :-) Thank you all very much, I appreciate you more than I can say."

"Elks lodge is a great place to swim me and my brother love the diving board and the volleyball and basketball court. They still do not have nachos yet this year which has taken a while but I don’t care"

"My grandparents have been members here since I was a little girl. I’ve always enjoyed going. But since I grew up and understand the customer service industry, I have never ever been met with customer service more rude from the concessions before! They asked me four times what I wanted, gave me the snarkiest look, and wouldn’t stop getting distracted by other coworkers, after I gave them the money. She was just so rude! Get better Elks especially for how much you have to pay to go."

"It has gotten expensive!!!! Guess you have to pay for upgrades. And The need more shaded spots at the pool. Maybe next year they will! With the price of quest for using the pool going from 5.00 to 10.00 they should be able to afford more room around pool area!"
